Important for the first use: setting correct paths! They have to be correctly modified to use this app:

Together with the app I have inserted files with predefined/sample paths. You have to modify them accordingly. You can skip “Path to Hammerhead” and “Path to fontsandmessage.earc” – they are just used for automatic reinserting text to the game.
I have also added the whole Hammerhead app with correct structure. It is set like on my PC, on drive G, so you need to customize all paths correctly.

1. Purpose
This application is designed to translate text in Final Fantasy XV. We have made Polish unofficial translation of this game.
You can edit almost every text. There are some exceptions:
- texts on graphics (they should be translated in Photoshop or other application like this)
- texts taken from the server (like latest updates' info)

2. How it works
This application is a mini-CAT tool for someone who wants to translate the game. Here are the steps:
1) Loading "message.win32.msgbin", count pointers and any other things needed to reinsert translation to the game (button Save to game\"Load data from message.win32.msgbin"). This is working slowly, approximately 13 minutes with current size of the file.
Important: it's already done on current version of the game (update: 12/13.12.2018), so until the next update, you need only click "Load State" to start.
2) Editing texts. You just need to click on the entry, edit it in "Target" window and click "Update". If you want to save your progress, click "Save State". Please note that "Save State" is saving progress in TXT files in the app folder, it's not importing to the game!
3) If you want to import texts to the game, you have to load state and after then click "Save target into FFXV" on "Save to game" tab. It takes some time, depending on number of entries to import. The whole translated game (excluding Assassin's Festival, Platinum Demo, Moogle Chocobo Carnival) is importing approximately 7 minutes. If you have set correct paths to Hammerhead (EARC archiver), app will import the file directly to the game, using this archiver. If not - it just modifying "message.win32.msgbin" and you have to import it manually by one of the EARC archiver app.

3. Translation memory / glossary
This app is using TM (translation memory). It’s not a rocket science, it just contains already translated phrases, to help with the translation of next similar entries. For now they are empty, but they will be growing during your work. Just remember about saving state.
Glossary: You can add also terms to the glossary. It’s good to have a glossary with terminology like items, weapons, attacks, abilities etc. Just click “Add to glossary” and you will see the small window with two fields. Fill them and click “Add to glossary” below. It will be shown below the glossary window if you will open an entry with this term.
Hint: If you will select exact text in Source and Target windows, clicking “Add to glossary” button is copying these texts automatically to both fields.

4. Spellcheck
You can download Hunspell dictionaries, copy them into the app folder, and set correct names in the “Settings/Data” tab (or just edit “settings.ini” file). Then, you can just click “Spellcheck” to have underlined everything what is incorrect for Hunspell.

5. “Do not translate” option
If you will find an entry which you don’t have to translate or you see it’s from demo/festivals which they will be no longer available, you can just skip it. Click “Do not translate” and it will turn to red on the list. Entries marked as “Do not translate” are not being counted in “Wordcount” function.

6. “Next untranslated entry” option
It’s helpful if you want to find the first untranslated entry on the whole list. It skips “?” and {EmptyCode} entries, as well as translated and marked as not for translation entries.

7. “Sign off”
It’s an option for QA of your translation. If you will check that this entry is correct, you can mark it as “Sign off”. It also has impact on the wordcount function. You can choose if you are USER #1 or USER #2 (as professional translation should be QAed by two different people ;))

8. Wordcount
Just click it with loaded state and you will see the percentage of work completed. As for sign off – the percentage is divided by 2, in case you want to do sign off by two different people (see point 7).

9. “QA” tab
In this tab, you can check tags and numbers, as well as search not translated 100% matches based on your TM. You can also choose visibility of signed off entries.

10. Tools for updated game
When Square Enix will update the game (for example because of Episode Ardyn), they will change the script for sure. If this update happens, it’s VERY IMPORTANT TO BACKUP ALL YOUR TXT files in app folder. In general, backups are very important. ;) After doing a backup, you can update the game, extract “message.win32.msgbin” once again and use option “Load data from message.win32.msgbin”. After it, you will have everything clean and not translated. You can use this section then, by clicking “(1) Compare versions” and after then “(2) Match segments”. Fields for previous source and target files contains names – please rename previous versions of lbtexts and lbtextsEN and put them into the app folder. If it will not be working correctly, please contact me – I will be doing the same with Polish version for sure.

11. Characters mapping
If your language contains characters with non-standard diacritics, like Eastern European languages etc., you have to modify fonts. Open font files and modify fonts based on another, not used letters. If you will have the list of mapped letters, put them to the “replaceA.txt” and “replaceB.txt” files. “replaceA” should contain characters from your language, “replaceB” should contain original replaced characters. I have placed Polish version, so you can modify it and customize to your language. If you are using only “standard” letters you don’t have to do anything with it – you don’t have Polish diacritics, so app will just not do anything. Thanks to this function, you can use your diacritic letters in the application.
